Region: Rablay Sur-Layon, Anjou, Loire, France
Wild Scale: 3/5

Winemaking: Organic Chenin Blanc grapes from a plot planted on schist soils in 1968 were harvested by hand and underwent fermentation with indigenous yeast in old barrels. Aged in barrel and then stainless steel tanks. No filtration or fining. Small amount of added sulphur on bottling.
This Wine: Outstanding Chenin Blanc from a rising star of Anjou. The grapes a grown in a perfectly situated vineyard on the banks of the Layon river. Full but fresh with an amazing texture and plenty of complexity. We advise to decant before drinking.
Notes on the Winemaker: Thomas Batardiere worked in film before deciding to change career direction. Now he farms just under 4 hectares of vines using biodynamic practices just next door to the much celebrated winemaker Richard Leroy and produces impeccable wines with balance and finesse.
