Winemaking: Organic Romorantin grapes were harvested by hand. Fermentation with indigenous yeast. 50% in amphora and 50% in stainless steel. No fining or filtration and just a small amount of sulphur added at bottling.
This Wine: A round and textured natural white wine. Ripe citrus and stone fruits are balanced with some delicate herbal (mint!) and floral notes to produce something quite special that will get even better with age. Romorantin is a grape variety that excels on these soils. Best served with food.
Notes on the Winemaker: Hervé Villemade has been making natural wine in the Loire valley since the late 1990s after being inspired by the Beaujolais legend Marcel Lapierre. He is situated close to Thierry Puzelat / Clos du Tue-Boeuf and just like his neighbour, produces stunning wines from local grape varieties at very reasonable prices.
