Winemaking: Organic Zibibbo grapes from 90 year old vines on clay and sandy soils were hand harvested and spent 15 days on the skins after crushing. Fermented with indigenous yeast. Aged in glass demijohns and stainless steel tanks. No filtration, fining or added sulphur.
This Wine: Deep and intense orange wine from a single plot with unique terroir. The soil gives these Zibbibo grapes plenty of tannic structure and complex flavours of orange marmalade, bergamot and apricot skin. Best served with a rich dish such as pork or oily fish. Will age very well. Only 1000 bottles produced.
Notes on the Winemaker: Tanca Nica is the natural wine project of Francesco Ferreri & Nicoletta Pecorelli who farm just 3 hectares of vines the small and remote island of Pantelleria. Located off the coast of Tunisia, the island is party of Italy and boasts Sicilian cultural traditions. The wines from Tanca Nica are wild but precise and complex, displaying all the signs of sun baked land and Mediterranean influence.
