This Wine: A very rare chance to drink one of the wines from local legend Philippe Gourdon. This is from the second year that his vines had been certified Biodynamic and offers the chance to experience a piece of natural wine history. We last tried a bottle a few years ago and it was obviously quite developed and savoury but still full of energy and fresh acidity.
Notes on the Winemaker: Before retiring in 2014, Philippe and Francois Gourdon were pioneers in the natural winemaking scene of the Loire Valley. The vineyards were certified Biodynamic in 1998 and only natural yeast was employed in fermentation. Philippe became a figure head of the movement and continues to advise young winemakers in the region today.
