Region: Nizza Monferrato, Piedmont, Italy
Wild Scale: 3/5

Winemaking: Organic Brachetto grapes were hand harvested. 30 days carbonic maceration and fermentation with indigenous yeast in cement tanks. Aged in old barrels for 18 months before being bottled with no filtration, fining or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural red wine with a medium body. This Tenuta Foresto cuvée has never come to the Uk before because it's made in such small quantities (just 2 barrels!). The Brachetto vines are co-planted with Moscato as per tradition in this region.
Notes on the Winemaker: Francesco Pozzobon hails from the Veneto region but now makes natural wine under the name Tenuta Foresto in Nizza Monferrato which is just south of Asti. he was inspired by the methods of Japanese farmer and philosopher Masunobu Fukuoka and aims to have as little impact on the natural ecosystem as possible. We visited in 2022 to try his wines in barrel which are getting better with every vintage. He previously lived in Highbury before heading back to Italy to start his winemaking project.
