Region: Beaujeu, Beaujolais, France

Winemaking: Organic Gamay grapes were harvested by hand. 10 day maceration and fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged for 9 months in old oak barrels. Bottled with light filtration, no fining and just a small amount of sulphur.
This Wine: Natural red wine with a light to medium body. Clean and precise with a nice complexity of red and black fruit. Herbal and savoury finish. Easy going Beaujolais from a couple of the region's most iconic names.
Notes on the Winemaker: Joseph Chamonard was a pioneer of chemical free viticulture in the 1960s. When he passed away in 1990, his son-in-law Jean-Claude Chanudet took over duties. Friends with Marcel Lapierre, the duo were key in the early natural wine movement but in recent years Jean-Claude has distanced himself from such labels. He also produces wine under the Chateau Cambon label with the partner of the now deceased Marcel.
