Winemaking: Organic Picapoll grapes from 50 year old vines grown in a single plot were harvested by hand. Macerated for 4 weeks in stainless steel tanks. Fermented with indigenous yeast. Bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural orange wine with a medium body and plenty of texture. Lemon rind, peach and herbal notes combine for an easy drinking wine that also shows a touch of wildness, this is a great everyday skin contact wine to share over the dinner table. Only 11% so works as a casual session wine also.
Notes on the Winemaker: Celler Comalats is situated near Lleida in the Western part of Catalunya. This is a project that is the result of 700 years of work by the Bonet family. Elo and Eva are the son and daughter of Jaume and they took over control of the farm from him before pushing things in a natural and low intervention direction. They now produce affordable, everyday drinking wines from both local and international grape varieties.
