Winemaking: Organic Pineau d'Aunis grapes from vines up to 100 years old were hand harvested and spontaneously fermented in whole bunches with indigenous yeast for 3 weeks. Aged in old oak barrels for 15 months. Bottled with no filtration, fining or added sulphur.
This Wine: One of Robinot's most iconic cuvées, this old vine Pineau d'Aunis is a light red wine full of intensity. Energetic acidity with a host of spicy notes such as cinnamon and clove alongside strawberries, sour cherries and a mineral finish. Will keep getting better in bottle for a long time to come.
Notes on the Winemaker: Jean Pierre Robinot produces some of the most acclaimed and sought after natural wines in the world. He moved to the Loire valley early in the 21st century after running a wine bar in Paris and now produces red wines from Pineau d'Aunis and whites from Chenin Blanc. The energy in a Robinot bottle really must be experienced at some point in your life! Age-worthy and unique wines, for sure.
