Winemaking: Organic Romorantin grapes from a small, 65 year old plot were harvested by hand. Direct press before fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in old barrels for 8 months. No fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural white wine with a medium body. This comes from a parcel of vines that was previously owned by fellow Cheverny winemaker and Romorantin expert Hervé Villemade. Citrus and minerals with profound herbal notes. Everything we love about this rare grape variety and will keep getting better with age.
Notes on the Winemaker: Arthur Peltier and Achille Ravineau are young winemakers situated close to Cheverny in Touraine. This is a natural wine hot spot in the Loire that was put on the map by the likes of Thierry Puzelat / Clos du Tue-Boeuf and Hervé Villemade, both of which provided training and guidance to Arthur and Achille. Now they are making affordable, expressive wines with a focus on local grape varieties including the rare Menu Pineau. One to watch!
