Winemaking: Organic Sylvaner grapes from four different plots were hand harvested underwent fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in old barrels for 8 months on the lees and bottled with no filtration, fining or added sulphur.

This Wine: Natural white wine with great freshness and salinity. Mineral notes with a touch of tangerine. A wine of high intensity that needs food alongside. As the name suggests, this comes from old vines that were planted 50 years ago.

Notes on the Winemaker: Jean-Pierre Rietsch is a natural winemaker in the village of Mittelbergheim, Alsace. His estate has been in the family for seven generations but wasn't used for vine cultivation until the 1970s. All of Jean-Pierre's wines are in very high demand but we particularly love his skin-contact cuvees which is a winemaking method rarely seen in Alsace.
