Grenache
Altissima 2022
Mont de Marie
Grape Variety: Grenache
Producer: Mont de Marie (Thierry & Marie-Noëlle Forestier)
Region: Gard, Languedoc, France
Wild Scale: 4/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic Grenache grapes were harvested by hand and fermented with indigenous yeast in concrete tanks in whole bunches. Aged for 9 months and bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: A natural red wine that is light in body but has a great intensity of fruit. Complex flavours of fresh raspberry along with something more stewed. Pepper and herbs follow before a cooling finish, possibly thanks to a note of eucalyptus. An absolute bargain.
Notes on the Winemaker: Thierry Forestier and his wife Marie-Noëlle are located in the village of Souvignargues not too far from Nimes in the Languedoc. They have been making wine since 2004 and focus on amazing value reds that are light and fresh despite the warm climate down here. The inspiration for this style was after meeting Eric Pfifferling of Domaine L'Anglore.
