Winemaking: Organic Pinot Meunier grapes from Ham Street were harvested by hand and foot stomped. Slow press before fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in old barrels for 11 months. Bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural red wine made with organic fruit from the Ham Street vineyard and vinified at Offbeat's cellar. The first vintage from this new project by Alex Thorp. Highbury Library was part of the project that saw re-used bottles sent back to the winery to be cleaned and re-used. Only 300 bottles produced.
Notes on the Winemaker: Owl's Wine is the project of longtime importer Alex Thorp who has made it his mission to produce, bottle, label and package wine completely sustainably using re-used materials. He has roped in friends within the UK natural wine world to make this possible and now we are able to try the wines for the first time!
