Cabernet Sauvignon / Syrah blend
Purulio Jaral 2016
Purulio
Grape Variety: Syrah, Garnacha (Grenache), Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir.
Producer: Purulio (Torcuato Huertas)
Region: Granada, Andalusia, Spain
Wild Scale: 3/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic grapes were hand harvested and underwent fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in barrel for 12 months and then bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Full bodied red wine with soft tannins thanks to the oak ageing. The wood was old and did not impart flavour so you will experience dark fruit flavours, some fresh and some more developed. Best served with food.
Notes on the Winemaker: Torcuato Huertas is based in the tiny village of Marchal in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. He farms just 3 hectares of vines that start at 900m above sea level. Amazingly he grows at least 15 grape varieties but only produces 4 wines as he sees blending as one of his key strengths. Sadly as of January 2022, Torcuato has retired meaning no more Purulio wine after the 2021 vintage!
