Winemaking: Organic Chardonnay grapes were harvested by hand. Direct press before fermented with indigenous yeast. Aged for 2 years in barrel. Bottled with no filtration, fining or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural white wine made with Chardonnay grapes from young vines in the village of Plottes near the Saône river. Mineral driven, with stoney and smokey characteristics alongside pure, citrus fruit and a tiny, subtle note from the oak barrels. Lifted by a touch of volatile acidity.
Notes on the Winemaker: Pierre Mang is a young vigneron from Paris who moved to Burgundy to study winemaking in Beaune. He acquired a very small plot of vines before embarking on his first vintage in 2019 following advice from Phillipe Valette. Now he works just under 3 hectares of parcels himself and is still figuring out where his path will take him. It's exciting to be able to experience these wines at such an early stage of this winemaker's career which certainly promises to be a special one.
