Winemaking: Organic Chardonnay grapes were harvested by hand and directly pressed in whole bunches. Fermentation with indigenous yeast in old barrels and aged here on the lees for Aged in old barrels for 11 months. No fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural white wine with a medium body. This is elegant, mineral driven Chardonnay with a smokey note that reflects the volcanic terroir of the vineyard. A lovely depth of citrus and orchard fruit supports the profound rocky character. Clean and precise.
Notes on the Winemaker: Péter Nagyvárad is a young natural winemaker who farms just two hectares of Chardonnay, Furmint, Welschriesling and Kekfrankos (Blaufrankisch) on the volcanic soils around Lake Balaton. The focus is on reflecting the terroir of this part of Hungary so all vineyard work is organic and intevrention in the cellar is kept to a bare minimum. The results are delicate but concentrated wines that show incredible balance and purity.
