Winemaking: Organic Chardonnay grapes grown on grey marl soils were harvested by hand. Direct press before fermentation with indigenous yeast in stainless steel. Aged in barrel for 12 months before bottling with no filtration, fining or added sulphur. 

This Wine: Natural white wine with a medium to full body. Brilliant Jura Chardonnay made in the topped up (ouillé) style, so not oxidative but you still get some subtle darker notes alongside bright citrus, striking minerals and high acidity. A bottle to take your time over and enjoy with food. 

Notes on the Winemaker: Jean-Francois Essler hails from North Eastern France and previously worked as a graphic designer before heading off to Burgundy to learn the ropes of winemaking. He then made the short jump to the Jura where he managed to get his hands on an old plot of Ploussard grapes and never looked back. Now working 3 hectares of vines, he is producing precise but characterful wines that combine everything we love about this famous wine region.
