Chenin Blanc
Le Rayon Blanc 2023
Puechavy
Grape Variety: Chenin Blanc
Producer: Thomas Puéchavy
Region: Vouvray Loire, France
Wild Scale: 3/5
Vegan friendly wine
12.5% alcohol
Winemaking: Organic Chenin Blanc grapes were hand harvested and underwent direct press into fibreglass for fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged tank for 1 year in old barrels and then a further year in tank. Bottled with no filtration, fining or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural white wine with a medium to full body. This is complex Chenin that displays a great balance of roundness, acidity and texture. More precision than the 2022 vintage with orchard and citrus fruit flavours alongside honeysuckle and minerals. Very subtle oxidative notes such as bruised apple and nuts bring further complexity. Extremely long finish. Best served with food.
Notes on the Winemaker: Thomas Puéchavy farms just 3 hectares of vines that are mainly planted over limestone soils in the Vouvray region of the Loire. This area is famous for off-dry and sweet wines made from Chenin Blanc. Whilst Thomas does produce these styles, it's his dry, acid driven expressions that really shine and will be celebrated by fans of this noble grape variety.
