Winemaking: Organic Chenin Blanc grapes were hand harvested and underwent fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in an old barrel on the lees for 14 months. No filtration, fining or added sulphur.  

This Wine:  Joel Wright runs a small company that imports some of the best natural wines in Europe. In 2022 he was helping Mai and Kenji with the harvest and was offered the chance to make his own wine. Using Chenin Blanc grapes that usually go into the Faia cuvée, he did exactly that. Dry, bright and vibrant. Drinking very well now but will get even better with age.

Notes on the Winemaker: Mai & Kenji Hodgson work 4 hectares of vines in Rablay-Sur-Layon. They met in Vancouver before studying winemaking in Japan, eventually settling in this area of the Loire valley. Their wines are impeccably made without any additions yet there is even more potential over the coming years.
