Grape Variety: Corbinello

Producer: Faedesfa (Alberto Buratti)

Region:  Rovolon, Colli Euganei, Veneto, Italy

Wild Scale: 4/5

11% alcohol

Winemaking: Organic Corbinello grapes were harvested by hand. Fermentation with indigenous yeast in stainless steel. Must from the original harvest was then added to the wine on bottling to kick start a second fermentation inside the bottle. No fining, filtration or added sulphur.

This Wine: Sparkling rosé made from a rare local grape variety that is known for its acidity. We were huge fans of the 2022 vintage but this is quite a different wine as Alberto continues on his fascinating, experimental winemaking path. The 2023 was made originally in the Ancestral (Pet Nat) style but after the 2024 harvest, Alberto decided to add the new juice to the 2023 wine which caused a re-fermentation without any addition of sugar or yeast. So this is some sort of hybrid Pet Nat / Traditional Method sparkling pink wine. All of that wild red fruit combines with creamy, more Champagne-like characteristics. Another superb, boundary-breaking wine from Alberto.

Notes on the Winemaker: Alberto Buratti farms just over 3 hectares of vines in the Colli Euganei region of Veneto. He grew up around these vineyards when his Grandfather worked them but it wasn't until 2019 that he took the plunge to take over full time. Now he works with local and international grape varieties that he grows organically and doesn't add anything in the winemaking process. He loves taking risks and continually looks to challenge himself in order to produce the most characterful wines possible. He is the nephew to fellow Venetian winemaker, Marco Buratti.
