Winemaking: Organic Domina and Muller Thurgau grapes were harvested by hand. 2 days of maceration before fermentation with indigenous yeast in. Aged for 6 months in old barrels. No fining or filtration. Very small amount of sulphur added on bottling.
This Wine: Natural wine made from a field blend of red (Domina) and white (Muller Thurgau) grapes from a plot grown next to a forest. In the summer of 2023, Sophie was back in Germany where she trained as a winemaker. Whilst helping a friend harvest, she managed to get her hands on some grapes grown nearby. This drinks as a rosé with bright red fruit, moreish acidity and a delightful texture.
Notes on the Winemaker: Sophie Evans worked with 2Naturkinder in Germany and made her own wines using some of the grapes from those vineyards but also with biodynamic fruit purchased from other growers in the area. She has now moved back to the UK and has her own vines down in Kent. 2022 was the first vintage from these plots of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Reichensteiner and Bacchus. It's been amazing to watch Sophie's journey so far and we can't wait to see what comes next.
