Winemaking: Organic Grignolino grapes from 60 year old vines were hand harvested and de-stemmed. 4 days maceration and fermentation with indigenous yeast in cement tank. Aged in old barrels for 9 months before being bottled with no filtration or fining. Small amount of added sulphur.

This Wine: Natural red wine with a light to medium body. Acid driven with dark fruit notes and earthy minerals. Slightly more rustic than Francesco's usual style but still clean and precise. Great with a casual meal.

Notes on the Winemaker: Located in the Monferrato hills of Piedmont, Tenuta Migliavacca holds a legendary status as one of the very first certified biodynamic estates in all of Italy. Luigi Brezza pioneered biodynamic and chemical-free agriculture in the country long before it became a movement and the estate is today carried forward by his son, Francesco Brezza. The farm operates as a completely self-sufficient ecosystem. Across their roughly 10 hectares of vineyards (alongside fields for cereal grains and hay), they raise cattle, utilising farm-made manure to enrich the calcareous-clay soils. Work in the vineyards is done manually whilst in the cellar, the winemaking philosophy is strictly traditional and unadulterated. Fermentations happen spontaneously in old concrete tanks without temperature control or commercial yeast. The wines are aged in large, decades-old Slavonian oak barrels and bottled without fining or filtration. They specialise in classic regional varieties like Barbera, Grignolino, and Freisa, producing old-school, soulful, and deeply authentic wines that prioritise purity and rustic charm over modern polish.
