Winemaking: Organic / biodynamic Furmint grapes from chalky soils were harvested by hand. Direct press and fermentation with wild yeast in large old oak barrels. Unfiltered and just a tiny amount of sulphur added on bottling.
This Wine: Mineral-driven white wine with notes of fresh lemon and lime along with green apple. There is also a unique aroma of cinnamon and a buttery aftertaste. A fine example of dry Furmint from just across the border of Hungary which is now tasting even better with age. Only 1600 bottles produced.
Notes on the Winemaker: Franz Weninger grew up in Burgenland, the region in East Austria that borders Hungary. He runs two wineries, one in each country using biodynamic techniques with a deep commitment to the environment. His wines offer outstanding value for such high quality.
