Winemaking: Organic Gamay grapes were sourced from a grower in Beaujolais. Fermentation with indigenous yeast in stainless steel. No filtration or fining. Tiny amount of added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural red wine with a light to medium body. The first ever negotiant cuvée from Jean-Francois and what a great start. Vibrant, fresh fruit leads the way with some spicy and earthy notes in tow. Beaujolais through a Jura lens. Superb value for money.
Notes on the Winemaker: Jean-Francois Essler hails from North Eastern France and previously worked as a graphic designer before heading off to Burgundy to learn the ropes of winemaking. He then made the short jump to the Jura where he managed to get his hands on an old plot of Ploussard grapes and never looked back. Now working 3 hectares of vines, he is producing precise but characterful wines that combine everything we love about this famous wine region. Bertie King joined the domaine in 2026 and we look forward to see how their influence expresses in the future wines.
