Winemaking: Organic Gamay grapes were harvested by hand. Whole bunch, semi carbonic maceration and fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in old barrels. Bottled with no filtration, fining or added sulphur.

This Wine: Natural red wine with a light body. This is mineral focussed whilst the fruit takes a back seat. Delicate aromas with some signs of development in bottle. Complex and thoughtful Beaujolais. Another fine example of how well Michel's wine ages.

Notes on the Winemaker: Based in the Beaujolais Cru village of Morgon, Michel Guignier is a fourth-generation vigneron crafting unadulterated, soil-driven Gamay. Grounded in organic and biodynamic viticulture, Michel farms his old-vine parcels without synthetic chemicals, plowing by horse to maintain soil health and biodiversity which is also imrpoved thanks to his herd of cows. In the cellar, he prefers whole-bunch fermentations using indigenous yeast, long cold macerations without temperature manipulation, and no use of sulphur. The wines are aged gently in old oak casks and concrete tanks, then bottled unfined and unfiltered. From his entry-level Beaujolais to his old-vine Morgon cuvées, the Guignier lineup delivers remarkable purity, mineral tension, and vibrant fruit drinkability.
