Winemaking: Organic Gamay grapes from 40 to 50 year old vines were harvested by hand. Whole bunch, semi-carbonic maceration and fermentation with indigenous yeast. Bottled with no fining or filtration and just a small amount of sulphur.
This Wine: Light but complex red wine made with Gamay grapes from one of the most favoured Cru sites in Beaujolais. Rich in mineral elements with bright red fruit and great acidity. Delicate but concentrated. Very moreish! Great with or without food.
Notes on the Winemaker: Guy Breton is a natural winemaking legend and considered as one of the original Beaujolais Gang of Four who are credited with starting the natural wine revolution in the 1980s. From different sites closed to his home in Villié-Morgon, he produces light bodied wines, full of finesse with no or minimal use of sulphites.
