Winemaking: Organic Gamay grapes from 90 year old vines were harvested by hand. Whole bunch, semi-carbonic maceration and fermentation with indigenous yeast. Bottled with no fining or filtration and just a small amount of sulphur.
This Wine: Natural red wine from one of the most important names in Beaujolais. This is delicate but concentrated with perfumed red fruit and a mineral backbone. Great energy and balanced acidity.
Notes on the Winemaker: Guy Breton is a natural winemaking legend and considered as one of the original Beaujolais Gang of Four who are credited with starting the natural wine revolution in the 1980s. From different sites closed to his home in Villié-Morgon, he produces light bodied wines, full of finesse with no or minimal use of sulphites.
