Grape Variety: Grenache, Garrut, Ull de Perdiu, Sumoll, Queixal de Llop, Samsó, Trepat

Producer: Partida Creus (Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerosa)

Region: Catalunya, Spain

Wild Scale: 4/5

Winemaking: An organic field blend of red grapes was harvested by hand and fermented with wild yeast in stainless steel tanks. Aged in tank for 7 months before bottling with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.

This Wine: Really light and fresh red wine with red cherry, cranberry and pomegranate flavours and a hint of spice. Best served chilled and you don't need food. It's great to see Partida Creus using so many rare and native grape varieties in the blend.

Notes on the Winemaker: Partida Creus is the project of Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerosa, Italians who were working in Barcelona before moving to the remote village of Bonastre in search of a quieter life surrounded by nature. Here they began producing wine from old, almost extinct Catalan grape varieties such as Sumoll and uncovered ancient winemaking techniques by speaking to old winemakers in the area.
