Winemaking: Organic Grenache grapes grown on schist and granite soils were harvested by hand. Whole bunch fermentation with indigenous yeast before being pressed into old wooden barrels. Aged for 1 year before being bottled with no filtration, fining or added sulphur.
This Wine: We haven't tried yet but pretty sure you can expect an amazing wine with delicate complexity of fruit, minerals and spice.
Notes on the Winemaker: After searching for vines around the country, Hirofumi and Rié eventually settled near Banyuls sur Mer in the deepest depths of Southern France. 2017 was their first vintage and the wine instantly wowed the likes of Alice Feiring who described it as a 'pulsating strobe light'. Years later and the buzz hasn't stopped. The couple produce delicate but structured Grenache on these steep, sun baked slopes and never add anything in the cellar.
