Winemaking: Organic Gringet grapes from vines grown on schist slopes were harvested by hand. Macerated in whole bunches and fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in old barrels. Bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural wine on the white to orange scale. Fruit takes a back seat to allow minerals and perfumed spice to shine. The complexity of different spicy notes is a mesmerising experience. White pepper, ginger, a hint of clove and so much more. Subtle tangerine and citrus fruit in the shadows. A unique bottle that feels unmistakably alpine. Very small production.
Notes on the Winemaker: Jean-Yves Péron hails from the Savoie where he produces a great range of wines each from very small parcels of vines. He utilises indigenous grape varieties of the region but also works as a negotiant to purchase fruit from both his home region as as well as from growers in Italy. The latter are bottled under the 'i Vincini' label. All vineyard work is carried out according to organic methods.
