Le Zu Defruit 2022
Jérôme Lambert
Grape Varieties: Grolleau
Producer: Jérôme Lambert
Region: Rablay-sur-Layon, Anjou, France
Wild Scale: 4/5
Winemaking: Organic Grolleau grapes from old vines were harvested by hand. Whole bunch fermentation with indigenous yeast for 11 days. Aged in fibreglass for 9 months. Bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural red wine with a light to medium body. This is full of fresh fruit with a a particular note of blue berries shining through on the palate. Bright acidity and a touch of spice make this easy drinking but characterful wine.
Notes on the Winemaker: Jerome Lambert has been farming organically and making wine without any additions for many years. He farms just under 5 hectares in the area around Rablay-sur-Layon in the Loire valley where he works with indigenous grape varieties. When we taste his wines, we are always struck by their purity of fruit and delicate complexity.
