Winemaking: Biodynamic red grape varieties were harvested by hand separately and vinified in different ways. Some whole bunches, some de-stemmed, some direct press, some infused. Fermentation with indigenous yeast. Blended and then aged in Terracotta amphora. No fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural red wine with a light body. This is Bencze's blend of red grape varieties that are indigenous to Hungary. You can expect an ethereal wine full of cranberry, raspberry, cherries and more alongside a subtle smokey volcanic note from the soil. High acidity but all in balance. Great slightly chilled. Only 5000 bottles produced.
Notes on the Winemaker: István Bencze is a pioneer of natural winemaking in Hungary. His vineyards are situated on the Szent György hill, in Badacsony near Lake Balaton. He works meticulously in the vineyard, harvesting at multiple times in order the achieve the right balance in the final wine.
