Winemaking: Biodynamic grapes were harvested by hand. 1 week maceration in a combination concrete and steel tanks. Fermentation with indigenous yeast. No filtration or fining and just a touch of added sulphur on bottling.
This Wine: Medium to full bodied red wine but still on the fruity and easy going side. Hard to beat this wine for value. It's a winter warmer but tannins are soft and pleasant.
Notes on the Winemaker: Il Farneto is a winery situated in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna between Reggio Emilia and Modena. The 35 hectare farm was established in the 90s according to organic principles and is now run by Tomasso Turci and Marco Bertoni who have adopted biodynamic techniques in recent years. The wines are made using local grape varieties and always offer amazing value for money.
