Grape Variety: Melon de Bourgogne

Producer: Les Chants Jumeaux (Mathieu l'Hotelier & Chloélie Cholot-Louis)

Region: Montrelais, Loire, France

Wild Scale: 5/5

Vegan friendly wine

Winemaking: Organically grown Melon de Bourgogne grapes were harvested by hand and underwent a slow, 12 hour press. Fermented with indigenous yeast. Small amount of sulphur was added during fermentation.  No fining or filtration. No sulphur on bottling.

This Wine: Natural white wine with a wild character! Wow, don't think I've ever tasted a Muscadet quite like this. Such a great intensity of minerals alongside green apple, lemon and lime aromas. It's dry but somehow rich and sherberty at the same time. When I first tasted, I really thought it was Chenin Blanc. An absolute steal at this price and a lovely reminder that there are so many hidden natural wine gems out there waiting to be discovered.

Notes on the Winemaker: Les Chants Jumeaux is the small winemaking project of Mathieu l'Hotelier & Chloélie Cholot-Louis. They farm just 2 hectares of vines in the village of Montrelais on the northern side of the Loire river, in between Angers and Nantes. Made in a slow and careful way, these wines are authentic in every sense. Affordable bottles that make us fall in love with natural wine all over again.
