Winemaking: Organic Mencia grapes were harvested by hand and de-stemmed.  Fermentation with indigenous yeast in stainless steel tanks where the wine aged for 6 months. Gentle filtration and small amount of sulphur on bottling.

This Wine: Easy drinking red wine made from young Mencia vines in Asturias. Red fruit flavours and gentle spice with no influence of oak. Great with or without food. 

Notes on the Winemaker: Fran Asencio oversees the Urogallo winery that is nestled in the Cangas del Narcia mountains of Asturias. Fran concentrates on local grape varieties that reflect this part of "green" Spain where the influence of the Atlantic Ocean can't be understated.
