Winemaking: Organic Mondeuse grapes from vines grown on limestone and schist slopes were harvested by hand. Macerated in whole bunches and fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in old barrels. Bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural red wine with a medium body with a touch of tannin. All the rusticity we love about this grape variety but with the perfect balance of ripeness and acidity. Dark fruits dominate with subtle touches of minerals and spice. Very small production.
Notes on the Winemaker: Jean-Yves Péron hails from the Savoie where he produces a great range of wines each from very small parcels of vines. He utilises indigenous grape varieties of the region but also works as a negotiant to purchase fruit from both his home region as as well as from growers in Italy. The latter are bottled under the 'i Vincini' label. All vineyard work is carried out according to organic methods.
