Winemaking: Organic Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grapes from a single plot were harvested by hand and de-stemmed before a week long maceration. Fermentation with indigenous yeast before ageing in old oak barrels for 10 months. Bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural red wine with a medium body. This is full of energy with a great concentration of dark cherry and mineral notes. A tiny touch of spritz brings extra freshness. Not your average Montepulciano.
Notes on the Winemaker: In the south of Abruzzo, Luca Bevilacqua makes natural wine from indigenous grape varieties. He worked as a sommelier around Europe before embarking on his winemaking journey in 2001. His wines are straightforward but full of character and always made with filtration and sulphite additions.
