Winemaking: Organic Muscaris and Chardonnay grapes harvested by hand were sourced from Ledbury in Herefordshire. Vinified separately with Chardonnay seeing 7 days of skin contact and Muscaris 8 days. Pressed into stainless steel tanks for fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged on the lees for 9 months before being bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: The rare Muscaris grape variety is a genetic cross between Muscat and Solaris. This is combined with skin contact Chardonnay to produce an aromatic orange wine with fresh flavours of apricot, lychee, apple and dried flowers. Easy drinking but can also work with food. Only 490 bottles produced.
Notes on the Winemaker: Leisure Wine is the project of 2 friends passionate about natural wine who simply wanted to have a go themselves. They didn't let the lack of a vineyard get in their way and have been able to source high quality fruit from the UK and Italy so far. The long term plan is to grow their own grapes and continue producing natural wines with no additions.
