Parellada
Pim Pam Orange 2023
Vinyes Singulars
Grape Variety: Parellada
Producer: Vinyes Singulars (Ignasi Sigui)
Region: Penedés, Catalunya, Spain
Wild Scale 4/5
12% alcohol
Winemaking: Organic Parellada grapes from 50 year old vines grown in a single plot were harvested by hand. Macerated for 4 weeks in stainless steel tanks. Fermented with indigenous yeast. Bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural orange wine made in the local Catalan tradition. This is full of salty citrus alongside some delicate spice and dried herbs. On the easier side of skin contact wine but still plenty of Mediterranean character. Only 3,600 bottles produced.
Notes on the Winemaker: The Vinyes Singulars project was started in 2009 by Ignasi Sigui but winemaking by his family here in Penèdes is not a new thing. Back in the 15th century his ancestors began working this land passed on their knowledge for generations to come. Now Ignasi farms 20 hectares of grapes, quite large for a natural wine producer, but still prefers to produce wines from individual plots which express the various terroirs of this region.
