Winemaking: Organic Persecká Leánkar grapes were harvested by hand and crushed before spending around 24 hours on the skins. Just the free run juice was then fermented with indigenous yeast. Aged in tank on the lees for 3 months. Bottled with no fining, filtration and a small amount of added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural orange wine with apricot and floral aromas and a pastry-like finish. This is Marek Uhnák's lightest expression of the Persecká Leánkar grape so expect something easy drinking but full of flavour. Great by itself or partners well with white meat, vegetables or salad.
Notes on the Winemaker: Marek Uhnák studied winemaking in the Czech Republic before heading back to his home village of Čajkov in Slovakia to begin making his own wine. His vines are situated in the Caldera hills within the Nitra region which is made up of volcanic soils from the Sitno volcano. He produces wines with organic fruit and no or minimal sulphur additions.
