Wild Scale: 5/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic Pesecká Leánkar grapes were harvested by hand and crushed before spending around 3 to 4 weeks on the skins when fermentation (with indigenous yeast) began. Aged in old barrels for a year. Bottled with no fining, filtration and a tiny amount of added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural orange wine with a deep and complex character. Marek's most intense expression of Persecká Leánkar, a step up from his Rustical cuvée, and should definitely accompany a rich dish of food. Complex stone fruit and herbal aromas are supported with an earthy and mineral backbone and a smokey finish. Unique! 13% alcohol.
Notes on the Winemaker: Marek Uhnák studied winemaking in the Czech Republic before heading back to his home village of Čajkov in Slovakia to begin making his own wine. His vines are situated in the Caldera hills within the Nitra region which is made up of volcanic soils from the Sitno volcano. He produces wines with organic fruit and no or minimal sulphur additions.
