Winemaking: Organic Pineau d'Aunis grapes from different plots were harvested by hand. Whole bunch fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged for 1 year in old barrels before being bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur. 

This Wine: Medium bodied red wine made from the rare Pineau d'Aunis variety. The warmer vintage has produced a wine more focussed on dark fruit and earthy notes rather than the spicy character this grape is sometimes known for. Structured but with balancing acidity. A wine best served with food. 

Notes on the Winemaker: Renaud Guettier is the man behind La Grapperie, located in Loire village of Bueil-de-Touraine. There he farms 5 hectares of old vines and produces intense and elegant wines that are always aged in old barrels.
