Winemaking: Organic Pineau d'Aunis grapes were hand harvested and underwent a 10 day whole bunch maceration. Fermentation with indigenous yeast in tanks and then aged for 12 months in concrete egg. Bottled with no filtration, fining or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural red wine with a light but complex character. Despite it's delicate side, there is also some structure as is often the case with this unique grape variety. The signature peppery spice is present with an array of different fruits (raspberry, rhubarb, strawberry, blood orange) and a sprinkle of herbs. Superb! Only 600 bottles produced and just 48 came to the UK.
Notes on the Winemaker: Warren & Mäité Perrocheau are a young couple who started their natural winemaking project Les Errances back in 2018 after training with some of the big names in the area. They pay particular focus to sustainable and holistic farming practices to bring maximum health to their vines whilst taking a slow and steady approach in the cellar.
