Winemaking: Organic Pineau d'Aunis grapes from different plots were harvested by hand. Fermentation with indigenous yeast in stainless steel tanks. Aged in fibreglass. Bottled with no fining or filtration and just a touch of sulphur.

This Wine: After learning from one of the best Pineau d'Aunis producer's Emile Heredia, Ariane knows exactly how to treat this elusive and temperamental variety. Light red wine with a great depth of flavour and concentration. All the hallmarks of the unique Pineau d'Aunis grape variety with flavours of cranberry, raspberry, cherry and a kick of white pepper. Precise and balanced.  

Notes on the Winemaker: Ariane Lesné studied winemaking in Burgundy and worked on the retail side in the UK before deciding to purchase vines in the Loire Valley at the already established Domaine de Montrieux. She had fallen in love with a bottle of La Verre des Poetes and was now able to make her own wine from these very vines of Pineau d'Aunis. Ariane also has a negotiant side of the business where she purchases grapes from other organic growers which she bottles under the Goutte a Goutte label.
