Producer: Philippe Delmee (Domain Les Goelands)
Region: Anjou, Loire, France
Wild Scale: 4/5

10.5% alcohol
Winemaking: Organic Pineau d'Aunis and Grolleau grapes were hand harvested and underwent fermentation with indigenous yeast. A splash of Chenin Blanc and Grenache Gris was blended into the red wine. Aged in a combination of tank and amphora. Bottled with no filtration, fining or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural red with with a light body. This is a new iteration of La Cane which now includes both red and white grape varieties. Whilst visiting Philippe in May 2026, we tried a bottle of this and fell in love with it immediately. Electric acidity but with a great concentration of ripe fruit and peppery spice. A nice touch of wildness but everything is in balance. A great price too.
Notes on the Winemaker: Philippe Delmee is situated in Anjou where he works with the famous varieties of the region, Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc as well as some Grolleau and Pineau D'Aunis. He manages to find a balance between making more serious wines alongside gluggable, bistro style bottles. He also has a cool record collection and great taste in music!
