Winemaking: Organic Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir grapes were purchased from an organic grower. Direct press and fermentation in stainless steel with indigenous yeast. The wine was bottled before fermentation was complete in order to create fizz inside the bottle (ancestral winemaking technique). No filtration or fining and just a touch of sulphur.
This Wine: This is the first vintage of a new cuvée from Yann using fruit from other organic growers in Alsace! Pink pet nat with strawberry, blueberry and red cherry flavours. Refreshing but has some real depth of funky fruit.
Notes on the Winemaker: The Durrmann family make wine in the village of Andlau on the slopes of Vosges mountains in Alsace. The vineyards have been organic since 1998 and sulphur free cuvees have been produced since 2007 after Yann (the son) took over running the winery.
