Winemaking: Organic Pinot Noir grapes from two parcels of vines were harvested by hand and were fermented with indigenous yeast in whole bunches for 14 days. A brrel of Pinot Noir from Bastian Wolber in Burgundy was added to the wine. Aged in old barrels and sandstone amphora. No filtration, fining or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural red wine with a medium body. Dark fruit with subtle herbal and savoury notes. Bottled under a special label as Yannick felt it showcased a wilder side to his wines but it is still very approachable and offers superb value.
Notes on the Winemaker: After training with some of the great names in natural wine such as Patrick Meyer and Le Coste, Yannick Meckert established his own project following in the footsteps of his parents but taking winemaking in a more organic and holistic direction. In 2019 he produced his first vintage from just under 4 hectares in the Alsatian village of Obernai.
