This Wine: Julien's rare and highly sought after cuvée made form a blend of old vine Pinot Noir and Gamay from the Mâcon Rouge AOC. 8000 bottles produced. The idea is to honour to old medieval winemaking traditions of these plots of land where the 2 varieties were commonly blended together. 910 is refers to theyear monks first started growing vines on the land now farmed by Julien.
Notes on the Winemaker: Clos des Vignes du Maynes was founded in 1954 on land that had been used by monks for viticulture since the year 910. Pierre and Jeanne Guillot immediately worked organically in the vineyard and without use of sulphur in the cellar. Their son Julien joined the project in 1998 and they transitioned to biodynamic farming. Now they work around 8 hectares on clay-limestone soils where they cultivate Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Gamay grapes to produce Burgundian wines of real purity that focus on fruit and not flavours of wood!
