Winemaking: In April 2024 we travelled to Bierzo to blend another wine with Diego. We tried many different barrels before deciding on our favourite combination. 50% of the wine is made up of a barrel of Diego's 2023 wine Har Meggido, a blend of both red and white grapes (Mencia, Trousseau, Doña Blanca, Palomino. The other 50% is a barrel from the 2024 harvest made up of red and white juice again (Mencia, Trousseau, Alicante Bouschet, Gran Negro, Doña Blanc and Malvasia). All grapes farmed organically, fermentation with indigenous yeast and aged in a combination of old barrels and concrete. No filtration, fining or added sulphur.

This Wine: Dedicated to Arsenal Women Football Club, the Champions of Europe! A juicy blend of 7 red and white grape varieties harvested across two different vintages. A deeper, more complex wine that Desgracia but still super fresh with a light to medium body. You can expect red cherries, blackberries and plums with earthy, mineral and spicy notes. A Bierzo Beaujolais of sorts! Great served slightly chilled. Only 720 bottles produced. All hand numbered. Label designed by 1886. 

Notes on the Winemaker: Diego Losada is very much an outsider in his hometown of Ponferrada in the North of Spain and this was the case even before winemaking. Now he creates wines that stand out amongst the crowd in Bierzo with authentic and true reflections of the region. We have visited him a couple of times to see his vineyards and help him in the winery, always to the soundtrack of Metallica!
