Struck by Fruit Salad Bolts from a Dark Sea 2021
Grape Variety: Sangiovese
Producer: Leisure Wine
Region: Puglia / London
Wild Scale: 5/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic Sangiovese grapes harvested by hand were sourced from Puglia, Italy. They underwent short carbonic maceration in London with indigenous yeast in stainless steel tanks. Bottled with no fining or filtration and a very small amount of sulphur.
This Wine: Another batch of Italian grapes produced this deep rosé style of wine that seems to suit winter perfectly. You feel lots of fresh red fruit at first before a complex and savoury finish. Only 402 bottles made. Best served chilled.
Notes on the Winemaker: Leisure Wine is the project of 3 friends passionate about natural wine who simply wanted to have a go themselves. They didn't let the lack of a vineyard get in their way and have been able to source high quality fruit from the UK and Italy so far. They now have a permanent winery on the Old Kent Road which bodes well. We hope it's the start of a long and tasty journey!
