Moon Wine 2020
Grape Variety: Sumoll
Producer: Partida Creus (Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerosa)
Region: Catalunya, Spain
Wild Scale: 4/5
Winemaking: Organic Sumoll grapes were hand harvested before fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged for 12 months in an old barrel. Bottled with no filtration, fining or added sulphur.
This Wine: MW 2020 - This is a collaboration between Moon Wine and Partida Creus. In 2017 we were treated to a white and this time it's a red. One barrel made from a plot of Partida Creus' oldest Sumoll vines. Medium bodied with some tannic grip. Only 800 bottles produced.
Notes on the Winemaker: Partida Creus is the project of Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerosa, Italians who were working in Barcelona before moving to the remote village of Bonastre in search of a quieter life surrounded by nature. Here they began producing wine from old, almost extinct Catalan grape varieties such as Sumoll and uncovered ancient winemaking techniques by speaking to old winemakers in the area.
